The prothean race was first introduced in Mass Effect 1 as the mysterious progenitors of the galaxy's spacefaring technology, presumably responsible for the construction of the Citadel and the Mass Relays. He was more fleshed-out than the previous DLC crewmates introduced in Mass Effect 2 - Kasumi and Zaeed had far less story content and no proper conversations, instead only offering scarce lines of dialogue and one mission each. Javik is an ancient prothean and the last surviving member of an otherwise extinct race. From Ashes, released alongside Mass Effect 3, was arguably the most essential of the bunch, bringing Javik in as a fully implemented and permanent crewmate. Some of these DLC packs were more essential than others, introducing story elements that helped flesh out the trilogy as a whole, while others were purely cosmetic. Below are the DLC packs that are easiest to skip in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. When it first launched, the Mass Effect series had well over a dozen pieces of DLC, each one adding a variety of new items and other content, and crewmate Javik was a part of one of these packs - but he really should have been part of the base game. With that in mind, there are a few experiences that simply aren't necessary for anyone looking to get through the main game faster. A lot of these side missions add extra context to the main story, and some can even add extra resources to the suicide mission of Mass Effect 2, or the War Assets of Mass Effect 3. While a lot of Mass Effect Legendary Edition's DLC is simple weapon and armor additions, there's a good amount of story added as well, with some horribly hard choices to make in the process. Mass Effect Legendary Edition loops in nearly all the DLC ever released for the original trilogy, which some players may have missed the first time around. The Mass Effect games are fairly long on their own, but there's a wealth of DLC that can increase that playtime even more.
